FAQs

Your Questions Answered

Here are some of the most common questions we hear from new and prospective clients.

We work with clients to develop a 10-step dynamic process centered on a fundamental understanding of your current situation, goals, and values. We’ll start by taking a look at your entire financial situation – from your lifestyle and funding cash needs all the way to projecting your retirement income and estate.

We use a variety of interactive planning software to visualize what different life scenarios will look like, model your investment portfolio over the long-term, and help you make confident tax-smart decisions. Within the first few meetings of becoming a client, you will have a practical field guide for making good choices at all of the milestones to come in your 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond.

We offer a flexible pricing model for our services, based on the complexity of each client’s financial situation. We charge a minimum annual fee of $12,500, which includes investment management, ongoing financial planning and tax planning. If a client prefers being charged based upon assets-under-management, we will charge 0.95% per year under this kind of arrangement.
After we create your retirement roadmap, we’ll work together closely on your ongoing planning, investment management, tax minimization, and retirement considerations. You can expect annual reviews with a thorough analysis of key issues like cash flow, healthcare, insurance, taxes, asset and debt valuations and long-term planning items like beneficiary designations and estate planning imperatives.

Before the big milestones in your life, we’ll provide advice on portfolio withdrawal strategies and Roth conversions, along with guidance around claiming Social Security, amending insurance coverage and normal life events like dealing with real estate and determining healthcare options.
We strongly believe in having meaningful relationships with each of our clients.  We prefer working with clients that share our values, are at least 50 years old, like travel and enjoy a good glass of wine. We also utilize a disciplined review process to evaluate and accept new clients.
Yes. We work with families across the country, and have clients located in 10 states. Our main office is in Chicago, IL, but we utilize technology to meet our clients wherever they prefer (and yes, we still make house calls!).  If you are looking for a financial advisor who specializes in retirement income planning, please reach out and start a conversation with us.
